W&F utilizes a selective and thoughtful approach to structuring, analyzing and negotiating transactions that focuses on material issues and avoids getting bogged down on matters that hinder the resolution of the business and legal objectives. W&F firmly believes that, even as a small boutique, the firm can exist as a segment leader in the provision of comprehensive and responsive client service and innovative legal solutions. Paying attention to the details and helping the firm’s clients realize their goals and vision for their businesses define W&F’s approach to client service.
The firm’s experienced attorneys have worked with some of the nation’s largest law firms, including Helms Mulliss & Wicker (now McGuire Woods), Nelson Mullins, Buchanan Ingersoll, Hunton & Williams, Sonnenschein, and Katten, where they counseled a diverse group of sophisticated clients in many different areas of transactional law. This depth of experience supports the firm’s mission by creating a solid foundation in “doing things the right way,” enabling all W&F attorneys to provide the firm’s clients with legal solutions that add value and deliver peace of mind. All W&F attorneys believe in taking a hands-on approach to understanding the details of each transaction and advising its clients in an effort to effectively mitigate risks, while at the same time balancing the practical realities needed to close a transaction.
W&F strives to exemplify a pragmatic and cost-effective approach to transactional law with an entrepreneurial spirit and business savvy. Over the course of representing our clients in renewable energy transactions, we have formed many excellent working relationships with developers, sponsors, investors and other law firms in the industry. This historical transaction experience and mutual understanding of precedent promotes efficiency and familiarity in the legal documentation process, enabling us to work collaboratively with all parties to get transactions closed.
Mike Wielechowski and Nate Fuller founded W&F after practicing together for three years and knowing each other for nearly ten. The genesis of the firm’s renewable energy specialization began in 2011, long before W&F was ever formed, when Mike was approached by an existing lending client to represent it in a renewable energy project finance transaction in North Carolina. At that time, the transaction was one of the first such transactions in the State of North Carolina. Since that first North Carolina transaction in 2011, Mike and Nate together represented lenders in many renewable energy transactions, playing an important role in fostering the growth of emerging, renewable energy developers and the renewable energy industry in the State of North Carolina and all over the United States. Today, W&F supports its clients on a national basis, closing renewable energy transactions from coast to coast.
